G4S rooftop occupiers acquitted

Two campaigners who staged an eight-hour rooftop occupation at the corporate headquarters of controversial security company G4S were today acquitted of aggravated trespass by a district judge at Horsham Magistrates Court.

Ex-BBC correspondent to defend 'lawfulness' of G4S in court tomorrow

Adam Mynott, G4S' Director of Media Relations, is due to appear in Horsham court tomorrow morning to give evidence of the company's 'lawfulness' in a protest case.

Adam Mynott was a BBC foreign correspondent before joining the controversial security company in September 2011.(1)

The trial of the two activists who occupied the roof of G4S' HQ near Crawley for eight hours on 2 July 2012 on charges of 'aggravated trespass' (under S68 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994) began on Friday 16 August.

Campaigners to challenge G4S' 'unlawful' business in court

Two activists who occupied the roof of G4S' HQ near Crawley for eight hours on 2nd July 2012 will appear in court on Friday 16th August, charged with 'aggravated trespass' under Section 68 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. In their defence the pair will argue that G4S were not carrying out a 'lawful business' on that day and that their actions were 'necessary in order to prevent the threat of death or serious injury to those in the custody of G4S'.

Campaigners call for corporate manslaughter charges against G4S following 'unlawful killing' verdict in Jimmy Mubenga inquest

Following today’s jury verdict of unlawful killing that concluded an eight-week inquest into the death of Jimmy Mubenga, Stop G4S is calling on the Crown Prosecution Service to press charges against the three G4S security guards responsible for the death and to consider charges of corporate manslaughter against the company that employed them.

G4S feel the heat at AGM

Human rights activists today unfurled a banner proclaiming “Stop G4S” inside the company’s annual general meeting and disrupted the meeting with chanting and a noisemaker, before security guards forced them to leave the venue.
 
More than 15 campaigners who had purchased shares later grilled the company during the Q&A session towards the end of the meeting. The G4S executives looked disturbed and frustrated at the fact that they were unable to avoid the company's track record of human rights abuses.
